Image to Layers is an AI-powered tool that transforms flat images into aligned, editable RGBA layers. It allows users to split photos, product shots, portraits, and illustrations into transparent PNG layers, separating subjects, objects, and backgrounds.

How to use Image to Layers

1. Upload an image: Drag and drop an image (JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 10 MB) or click to browse.
2. Choose layer count: Select between 1 and 6 layers for the split.
3. Optional prompt: Add a one-line caption to guide the AI on how to slice the scene.
4. Download layers: Receive the separated layers as transparent PNGs or WebP files.

FAQ

• Are the layers really transparent, or just cropped rectangles? Every layer is a true RGBA image with a real alpha channel. Transparent areas are genuinely transparent. Stack the layers in any editor and they recompose into the original picture.
• How many layers can I get from one image? You choose between 1 and 6 layers per split. Simple images work well at 2-4 layers; busy scenes benefit from 5-6. You can re-run the same image at a different count anytime.
• Do I own the layers I generate? You always own them. Commercial use comes with any paid credit pack or plan, provided you have the rights to the original image. Results made with signup credits are public and carry no commercial-use licence; buying any pack unlocks commercial use and turns your existing results private too.
• What image formats can I upload and download? Upload JPG, PNG, or WebP up to 10 MB. Layers download as transparent PNG by default, with WebP available if you prefer smaller files.
• Will my images stay private? On any paid pack or plan, yes. Every result is private, visible only to you, and buying also turns everything you generated earlier private. Results made with signup credits are marked public: we may feature selected ones on this site. We only publish results we pick individually, never automatically. You can delete a task and its files from your history at any time.
• Can I separate an image into layers online, without installing anything? Yes. Image to Layers runs entirely in your browser. Upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP and the AI separates it into layers online, on any device. New accounts include starter credits, so you can run your first split right away.
• Can I turn an image into an editable PSD? Layers export as transparent PNGs named in stacking order. Drag the whole stack into Photoshop or any editor that supports layers, and you have an editable layered document you can save as a PSD.
