Vidleaf

What is Vidleaf

Vidleaf is a video reading workspace that lets you read, search, and cite transcripts from YouTube and Bilibili videos. It extracts existing subtitles for free, and can transcribe videos without subtitles. The tool is designed to help you find key ideas in long videos, take away original quotes with timestamps and sources, and export selected lines for notes or research.

How to use Vidleaf

1. Paste a video link: Copy the URL of a Bilibili or YouTube video and paste it into the input field on the Vidleaf homepage. Vidleaf will detect the platform, video length, and whether subtitles are available.
2. Read the transcript: The subtitles are displayed in chronological order. You can switch between Simplified and Traditional Chinese, view bilingual translations (if generated), and navigate using chapters.
3. Search and locate: Use the search function to find keywords or phrases within the transcript. Click on a timestamp to jump to that moment in the original video.
4. Select and export: Tick the lines you want to keep, then export them as TXT, SRT, or Markdown with timestamps and source information. You can also copy quotes directly.
